Defender is a great starting point, and Huntress works alongside it. The problem with Defender alone is nobody’s reading the alerts - small businesses don’t have a security team. Huntress fills that gap with a 24/7 SOC actively reviewing what Defender (and the Huntress agent) detects, and contains real incidents while you’re asleep.

Endpoint Detection and Response. A small agent runs on each computer, looks for suspicious behaviour (not just known-bad signatures), and reports back. The “managed” part means humans review and respond to those reports - you don’t have to.

All four are real EDR products. CrowdStrike and SentinelOne are excellent but priced and sized for enterprise; the operational complexity (and cost) is overkill for most SMBs. No - the Huntress agent is intentionally lightweight (a few MB of RAM, negligible CPU). Most users won’t notice it’s installed. We’ve never had a customer roll back because of performance.

Yes. Huntress supports Windows and macOS. Linux server agents are available too if you have any.

Huntress agents run on Windows Server (and Linux servers, on request). A server is billed as one device at the standard $15/device/month inc GST rate. Email us for a tailored quote if you have a server-heavy environment.

It’s designed to run alongside Microsoft Defender (or your existing AV), not replace it. Defender stops the obvious; Huntress catches what Defender misses and gives you the human SOC. If you’re paying separately for a third-party AV, you can usually drop it after Huntress is in place - but talk to us first.
